{long} weekend round up

As I previously mentioned, I had a great start to my weekend...

And I had an even better end to it! ha! It was 3 1/2 days long...I just love long weekends. The only bad thing...I never want to go back to work by the end! I just wish I could be a stay at home fiance! haha! :-)

I wanted to share some craftiness that I created on my own...with a little help from my blog friends though!

I made this cute little autumn candle deal with a leftover vase from some cute flowers, a smaller class tea light holder (on the inside) and some fake-o leaves that I found in the dollar bin at Target! Put them together and...voila!

As posted before, I got this neat little 'table' which I planned on turning into a night stand AND REPAINTING! That was so ick! The people at the shop were asking me if it was for my niece's room (they obviously didn't know she wasn't my daughter, does that happen to any of you?! Kind of annoying!) since she was with me.

BEFORE...

DURING...

AND AFTER!!!
Don't you just love it?! I especially like the cute little lamp that I picked out from Target! I just love the beads hanging off of it! I want to cute a cute little smaller picture frame, but had to put something there for the time being. It was too blank! And I want to decorate the outside of a clear candle (similar to that one) with some jewels to match or go along with the ends of the lamp. I simply love it!

I added some textured scrapbook paper to the inside of the drawer as a sort of liner, it turned out pretty cute!

I also got to watch this little cutie...COLIN while his Dad and Uncle went to the store. He was so cute and loved playing with our remote!

Isn't he just so darn cute?! He is our ring bearer!!!

Project decorate

First, I must tell you, I have debated in my head a couple times as to whether I post this on this blog or on my other one. I decided to put it here because it is stuff that I am doing. The other one is reminders for me of crafts that I like and would hope to try out. There, I said it. :-)

I got this mirror from my mom. It was from the back of an old powder table/desk/I don't even know. This sucker is HEAVY! Well, I decided to take it apart and scrap old paint off the mirror and really give it a good cleaning. I sanded the frame (which to my surprise is plastic, not the wood that I was thinking it would be) and repainted it black. I even did the insides so that you could only see black from the inside reflection of the frame.
Here it is in it's BEFORE state. Nothing special, just a plain 'ole white mirror.

Here is the mirror right after I took it all apart. And there is Mason staring up at me!

I went into a decorating frenzy yesterday. I decided to go to Walmart and get some pics to put up on the wall and find, well, whatever I found. So that is a work in progress, along with this mirror. I wanted to wait to post everything when it's all done. So you'll have to stay tuned for the outcome of the mirror! Sorry...I know you will all be waiting in anticipation for that post to come... ha! :-)

Mirrors mirrors on the wall

We ran out to the local Super K on our way to get dinner today and picked up a few things (i.e. new cushy bike seats so our bums don't hurt, sand paper for a project I'm working on {see below}, and some other odds and ends).

I'm always looking for something decorative to make our house a cozy home and add depth to our rooms. I happened upon a set of mirrors and have kind of been looking for something like this to go next to our door. We put them up when we got home and I think they look cute!

See our faces in the mirrors?! ha! :-)

We put them to the left of the door. Slowly but surely we are gaining little decorations!

Then we had a little bit of fun with them. Okay, maybe a lot of fun!

We got those cool hooks that are long and you push all the way in the wall...you know what I'm talking about?! I see infomercials on them all the time and they actually really work well. I'm a sucker for infomercials!

In other mirror news, I have this new mirror that I got from my mom. She was going to toss it and I thought I could create some sort of crafty refinishing project. I already stripped some paint off of the actual mirror and washed it. Now I'm thinking about painting it black and finding somewhere to put it. I was trying to think of something cute and crafty that I could do/add to it, but am at a loss. Any ideas? I have it sitting next to the doorway at the moment and Mason couldn't care less if he saw himself in the mirror. Roxy (the cat), on the other hand, is being so funny with it. So found it yesterday after we brought it inside and randomly just sits in front of it and stares at herself...it is just the funniest thing!

Love it!

I realize this is not the best picture to do this vase justice...but OH MY GAWSH...I love it!

This was at Salutos, where we went to for R's birthday. They had these on almost all of the tables in there. I was about to ask them where they got it so I could get me some for the wedding...but I chickened out and didn't. I could always call there, right?!

I don't know why, but I just LOVE it! It is so pretty and the taller longer flowers in it look so good too!

I may even just want one, two, three... to decorate at the house with!

Favorite Room

I am participating a 'favorite room' in your house post over on Kelly's Korner blog. You can check her's out HERE.

I would have to say that my most favorite room in our apartment is our livingroom. And may I remind you it is an apartment. That means we cannot paint or really decorate as much as I'd like. I think the thing that really gets me is the WHITE walls! They drive me absolutely crazy sometimes!

Like those times right now...when I take pictures of our place, the white walls look so ghastly to me, I just can't stand it!

I also want to state that we are kind of new to moving in. It's been about a little over a year and I'm still in the process of 'decorating'. I am trying to find my niche when it comes to decorating as well.

I want to hit up some flea markets and try and find some neat stuff to fill our house and make it a home!

Alright, enough of that...here we go...

This is the view of our living room, looking in from the patio. Wow it looks so much smaller in the pictures!

This is my red lamp that I found at Target on clearance! I love it and it made me decide to use red as an accent color in the living room. Like the treadmill that is so {un}hidden in the living room?!

Unbeknownst to us, we got a fireplace when we moved in! It kind of created a hard time when it came to setting up the livingroom, but we're dealing and we like it! I love the shelf (my brother and sil got it for us) we have up above the fireplace for pictures. I want to get something else to put on the wall there.

This is the little bookshelf nook that I recently added to the living room. When we had a smaller tv, it was tucked away in the corner over there. I have so many magazines and we have a bunch of books, so I thought I would put them out here. I got some dark wicker baskets to put on the bottom shelf and I put my magazines in there!

This is our semi-new tv. I believe we got it a couple of months ago (can't remember anymore! ha!). It's pretty cool! And those are my Marilyn pictures above. I don't know why, but I just love her, there is something vintage about her that I like.

More pictures to come on this, but this is my current project. I found the bend there from a flea market and I'm in the process of painting/decorating/sorting out that area.
So there, you have it. That's my favorite room. I realize it's not totally decorating or anything, but I'm working my way there. I love it though because it's where we hang out all of the time. It's comfort to me. It's home.

We got a treadmill (and a new bookcase too!)

Isn't that fan-freakin-tastic?! Well, I surely think it is! I went and picked it up yesterday...now it's just a matter of getting it out of the car, up the 3 sets of stairs at the apartments and...PUTTING IT TOGETHER!!! Ahhhhhhh!!! I have a feeling the latter part will be not to pleasant. For what it's worth, I already apologized in advance to the Mister...you know, in case I get a little out of hand. You see, I like to put things together and often times think my way is the right way. I'm kind of a freak for perfection. Said times are always resolved, we understand eachother :) Can't wait to start getting in shape! Woo hoo! We also have a new addition to our 'furniture collection'. We slowly but surely building our happy home, well, we already have a happy home, but you know what I mean. It makes the living room look more filled in and less insane asylum, white walled living space.
That's all.
